The training also develops their ability to identify mechanical hazards, select the correct tools and follow safe working procedures.
Key Skills Include:
Identifying the main components and mechanical systems of a wind turbine
Understanding the basic operation of wind turbines
Recognising mechanical hazards and appropriate control measures
Understanding bolted and welded connections
Inspecting basic bolted and welded connections
Selecting and safely using handheld tools
Correctly setting and using a torque wrench
Understanding gearbox, braking, yaw, cooling and lubrication systems
This module provides the mechanical foundation required for further technical and company-specific training in the wind industry.
Participants must meet the general requirements described in the GWO Requirements for Training and must be able to read and write sufficiently to follow instructions and complete the required documentation.
