The GWO Basic Technical Training – Installation Mechanical module introduces participants to the mechanical activities and working procedures involved in wind turbine installation.
Participants learn about the different stages of an installation project, including component handling, storage, lifting operations, preparation, pre-assembly, assembly and mechanical completion. The course also provides a basic understanding of the electrical and hydraulic activities that interact with mechanical installation work.
Key Skills Include:
Recognising the main stages of wind turbine installation
Understanding installation environments and associated hazards
Following checklists and installation documentation
Handling and storing components correctly
Recognising damage and reporting non-conformities
Understanding basic lifting equipment and lifting operations
Preparing main turbine components for installation
Understanding pre-assembly and assembly activities
Understanding the principles of mechanical completion
Recognising relevant electrical and hydraulic completion activities
Understanding the use of external generators during installation
The module prepares participants to support basic mechanical installation tasks under the supervision of an experienced technician.
The Installation Mechanical and Installation Electrical modules may also be delivered together as a combined 16-hour training programme, subject to the applicable GWO prerequisites.
