The GWO Basic Technical Training – Hydraulic module provides participants with a basic understanding of hydraulic systems and their application within wind turbines.
Through theoretical and practical training, participants learn how hydraulic pressure is generated, controlled and transferred through a system. The course also focuses on the hazards associated with pressurised fluids and the safe procedures required when inspecting or working around hydraulic equipment.
Key Skills Include:
Understanding the basic principles of hydraulics
Recognising hydraulic hazards and appropriate control measures
Identifying different types of pumps, valves and actuators
Understanding the function of hydraulic accumulators
Checking pump start and stop pressures
Checking and pre-charging an accumulator
Identifying sensors, pipes, hoses and hydraulic connections
Understanding hydraulic oil handling and filtration
Reading basic hydraulic diagrams
Using pressure-measuring equipment safely
The module prepares participants to carry out basic hydraulic tasks under supervision and to progress to company-specific technical training.
Participants must meet the general requirements described in the GWO Requirements for Training and must be able to read and write sufficiently to follow instructions and complete the required documentation.
